General

We’re on the west side of Orlando in Winter Garden at SunRidge Middle School – 14955 Sunridge Blvd., Winter Garden, FL 34787. Check the Directions page for more info.

Our Sunday Worship Service begins at 10:00 am. Immediately after the service, there is a time for fellowship and snacks. On the third Sunday of the month, we observe the Lord’s Supper and we meet after the service for a fellowship meal. Each Sunday evening at 5:00 pm, except on the third Sunday, we meet in the home of one of our members to sing, pray, and reflect upon the morning’s sermon. All members and visitors are welcome to join us.

What to Expect on a Visit

At Redeemer OPC, you can expect a friendly congregation, a traditional worship service, and a sermon centered on God’s Word.

After parking, greeters will meet you at the entrance. Signage will direct you to the meeting space in the cafeteria. Wheelchairs and scooters are available if you need assistance. Inside the cafeteria, ushers will welcome you, provide a bulletin for the service and answer any questions you may have.

We usually worship together from 10:00am to 11:15am. On the third Sunday of the month, we additionally celebrate the Lord’s Supper which adds a little time to the overall service.

At Redeemer, we value Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19). While the service may also include modern hymns, we use the Trinity Hymnal for much of our singing. We engage in congregational singing to praise God (Psalm 96:1) and to encourage one another in the truths of scripture (Colossians 3:16).

At Redeemer, you will hear Christ-centered preaching – a faithful exegesis (explanation based on original context) and practical application of the Scriptures.

Children are members of the church, so we value having them in worship. If you need to take your child out of worship, we have a comfortable nursery where you can sit with them and watch a livestream of the service.

Pastor Geoff Downey grew up in California in a nominally Catholic home. He was saved by God’s incredible grace when he was 21 years old. His early Christian years were spent in business, higher education, and global adventuring. Many years later, he answered God’s call to the ministry and began his studies at Westminster Seminary in California. He graduated from there with an M.Div. in 2012. After a year-long internship in Hatboro, PA (Trinity OPC), he was ordained and installed here as a pastor in 2013. The Lord has been kind to guide him through the church’s various transitions, and he is thankful to lead Redeemer OPC, formerly known as Lake Sherwood OPC, into this next season.

What the Church Believes

Vision – To be a faithful confessional Reformed church that impacts Central Florida and beyond with the love of Christ.

Mission – To make disciples of Christ through all of life. Redeemer OPC wants to be a Bible-believing and practicing church that holds to the confession and catechisms of the historic reformed faith. We want to make disciples of all nations, beginning here. We want to help disciples reach maturity and guide them throughout all of life.

At Redeemer OPC, we value biblical teaching, hospitality, evangelism, and discipleship.

Our primary ministry focuses on corporate worship. We meet at 10:00 am every Sunday to worship and praise our God and Creator and Redeemer. We also meet most Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm for a time of singing, studying, and prayer.

There is a time for extended fellowship after each morning worship service and each evening gathering. On the third Sunday of each month, we also enjoy a meal together.

We provide a Women’s Bible Study for all women of the church. It meets on the first and third Wednesday evenings in members’ homes. We want to encourage the women to grow in their knowledge of Scripture and in their love for the Lord Jesus. Currently, the women are studying the book of Romans.

We provide a time for men to fellowship together called “Brews & Bros”. This is a time for the men to encourage one another spiritually and have fun. This is a great time to introduce male friends and neighbors to Redeemer. A Men’s Bible Study is expected to start in early 2026.

We encourage individual discipleship and mentoring among all members and visitors of the church.
A Young Married Fellowship (Study) Group is underway, led by one of our elders, as a chance to encourage each other and grow together in Christ.

We encourage you to be actively involved in the church. We provide many opportunities to serve, including the setup & take-down team and the audio/visual team. We always need greeters, nursery workers, and people to help with the fellowship activities.

We encourage all members to share the love of Christ and what he has done for us at home, work, and other divine appointments God may have for us. In addition, we are forming an Outreach and Evangelism Team to help us as a church reach our community. Talk to the Pastor or Elders if you are interested in helping.

There are also seasonal opportunities for additional service and fellowship. Some of those opportunities we have enjoyed in the past are church-wide picnics, caroling at Christmas, and special events for ladies or couples.
